Plans for September re-opening – Packaging Volunteers Required  – Summer Pop Up Snacks end August 28th
Sadly, with summer quickly coming to an end, our last Pop-Up Nutrition Break will be on Friday August 28th. Nutrition for Learning would like to thank everyone, especially our dedicated Pop Up and Warehouse volunteers and to all that were able to make a donation to ensure that the students of Waterloo region had access to healthy food throughout this pandemic.  Nutrition for Learning and our donors have received so many thank you messages and words of kindness from our community about the Pop-Up Nutrition Breaks. “Thank you so much this summer. It was such a big help for the kids and what was going on. We are so thankful and grateful that there is a program such as this. ❤❤

Nutrition for Learning is excited to be back in schools with our Student Nutrition Programs this September. Kicking off the week of September 14th deliveries to all 149 programs will begin!  As you would expect our Student Nutrition Programs will be very different this year.  In order to comply with all the guidelines directed by the Government of Ontario, Nutrition for Learning has worked closely with the WRDSB, WCDSB as well as the Department of Public Health to ensure we have a plan and procedures that are safe, appropriate, and universally accessible to all students returning to the classrooms this fall.

Since volunteers will not be allowed in the schools this school year Nutrition for Learning will be prepackaging bags of appropriate food items for students to grab and go.   The menu will be limited at first, but we will adjust to expand food items over the first few months as necessary and appropriate to accommodate the needs of our various school communities.

Volunteers will not be allowed in the schools this fall; HOWEVER  Nutrition for Learning is in desperate need for as many volunteers to assist with pre-packaging our nutrition bags for school deliveries starting the week of September 8th to prepare the upwards of 60,000 bags required for the first weeks of school.  If you or anyone is interested in volunteering for a morning or afternoon shift or have a small group that would like to pack please contact Tania Moser at tmoser@nutritionforlearning.ca to volunteer.  If any corporate or large groups  or service clubs would be interested in volunteering with us please contact Brian Banks at bbanks@nutritionforlearning.ca Applications are available now on our website www.nutritionforlearning.ca and our first virtual volunteer orientation sessions and information will be available beginning September 1st.
