MEDIA RELEASE

Period Packs now easily accessible in our community Via the Nutrition for Learning Programs across the region this summer

Nutrition for Learning in conjunction with the WRDSB and WCDSB are partnering with  Changing The Flow Inc. to  launch a new pilot project this summer  #PeriodPreparedWR   at Nutrition for Learning “Pop Up Snack locations with Changing the Flow providing free period packs to students in Waterloo Region.

This new initiative will distribute period packs to 52 school locations across the region at the NFL Pop-Up Snack programs. Each period pack contains 5 pads, 5 tampons, and an information card on how to safely use the products if it is their first time.

As many people know firsthand, periods do not stop for pandemics. With the ongoing economic impact and school closures, access to period products has been significantly disrupted for many individuals. By providing period packs at Nutrition for Learning Pop-Up locations, we are helping students access period products safely. Nutrition for Learning has extensive reach and know-how with the safe delivery of snacks so this is a perfect vehicle for us to reach students who may otherwise not have access to the period products they need. We are very grateful for their support.”  States Changing The Flow president Kate Elliott

“Nutrition for Learning collaborates with partners to ensure students are fully supported in their learning. This pilot project in partnership with the two school boards and Change the Flow is another example of how together we are better”.  Mary D’Alton – Director of Strategic Initiatives and Operations – Nutrition for Learning
