Nutrition for Learning Pop Up Snack
Programs to continue during the SUMMER
Nutrition for Learning announced today that the need for healthy food continues to be a concern for many families so they will continue their POPUP SNACK program during the summer months of July and August. The new expense to run this program is estimated to be $80,000 each month and they will be fundraising in the community to support this NEW Summer initiative.
The Pop-Up Snack program has grown from serving 100 bags daily and is now distributing 500 bags daily for a total of 2500 per week. The snack bags contain enough snacks for four days and consist of bagels, cheese, fresh fruit, healthy crackers, yogurt, applesauce, cereal, and boiled eggs. In addition, many other items are added and change weekly, cans of beans, soup, lettuce, and the odd treat. Since mid-March we distributed approximately 25,000 bags which is approximately 500,000 items.
Locations and times of POP UP Snack programs are available online at www.nutritionforlearning.ca/donations and donations to the summer Pop Up Program can be made at
