Permanent Full-Time • 37.5 hours weekly | Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm (hours may vary)

Nutrition for Learning offers universally accessible, non-stigmatizing student nutrition programs to schools across Waterloo Region. These programs positively impact the physical, cognitive, behavioural, social, and academic needs of children and youth in our community. We are a registered charitable organization first established in 1997, and support nearly 175 student programs in all three school boards. (WRDSB -Waterloo Region District School Board, WCDSB -Waterloo Catholic District School Board and the French Language Public School Board).

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Warehouse & Logistics Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that Nutrition for Learning can reliably and efficiently provide food and resources to schools across the Waterloo Region. Above all, this individual is value-centered, leading each day with kindness, accountability, and a commitment to supporting student nutrition and community wellbeing.
As a key member of a small but highly collaborative operations team, Warehouse & Logistics Lead oversees inventory management, procurement coordination, warehouse operations, fleet readiness, delivery logistics, and driver support. This role combines hands-on operational leadership with relationship management to ensure food and supplies are available where and when they are needed.
The successful candidate enjoys working alongside their team, solving problems, improving processes, and building strong relationships with suppliers, volunteers, schools, and community partners. They take pride in creating organized systems, maintaining operational excellence, and supporting the continued growth of Nutrition for Learning’s programs
Job Purpose.
Student nutrition initiatives continue to grow across Waterloo Region, increasing the importance of efficient warehouse operations, reliable procurement practices, and effective delivery logistics.
The Warehouse & Logistics Lead is responsible for coordinating the movement of food and supplies from suppliers to schools while ensuring inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, food safety, and exceptional service. This role supports the day-to-day execution of warehouse and logistics activities while helping build systems and processes that can scale alongside the organization’s continued growth.
Strong supplier relationships, proactive inventory management, effective fleet coordination, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential components of success in this role.
You Will:
Lead daily warehouse and logistics operations and workflow coordination.
Coordinate food procurement activities including ordering, supplier communication, and inventory replenishment.
Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with suppliers, vendors, and community partners.
Support cost-effective purchasing practices while ensuring product quality and availability.
Monitor inventory levels and proactively coordinate procurement activities to minimize shortages and waste.
Organize and oversee the preparation of daily delivery loads, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Coordinate shipping, receiving, inventory movement, and warehouse storage activities.
Ensure accurate picking, packing, order verification, and count sheet completion.
Lead inventory counts and maintain inventory accuracy and reporting.
Ensure FIFO compliance and proper food storage and rotation practices.
Support warehouse cleanliness, food safety standards, and 5S workplace organization.
Coordinate fleet readiness, route planning, and delivery efficiency initiatives.
Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance for vehicles and warehouse equipment.
Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
Support operational planning and logistics coordination to meet the needs of expanding school nutrition programs.
Maintain accurate procurement, inventory, receiving, and operational records.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in warehouse flow, logistics, inventory control, and procurement processes.
Support warehouse volunteers, drivers, and logistics personnel as required.
Step in to perform deliveries when operational needs require.
Assist with special events, community initiatives, and operational projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
